I have been an occasional detectorist over the past few years using a crappy bounty hunter detector. I have decided to get more serious and have recently purchased a Bandido, Cibola and a minelab xterra 305 for my kids and I. We are looking forward to see what we will find since i never really found anything but trash with my bounty hunter!

Sounds like a good time! When I did something similar, I set my daughter's detector to max discrimination. She'd detect for maybe 30-40 minutes with me helping to dig and the lure of the playground would sing its siren song. Another hour or so and she'd be ready to get back to home.

:twodetecting: Welcome to the forum and good luck hang in there the goody's will come soon.
You can not go wrong with the Bandido, Cibola or the Xterra.
keep us up to date

Welcome aboard. And keep in mind that we all dig trash in our search for goodies. More experience and being more selective about targets can reduce the amount of trash dug. If you choose, you can run the discrimination high and just go for dimes and quarters and larger coins.

Here are a couple of pictures from a couple years back of a beach vacation. One with all the targets dug and the other with a lot of the trash removed so you can see some of what was found.

Enjoy the time with the children. They grow up so fast!
