Next question on small coils

Seems everyone is using the 5"dd coil. How do the 5", 6 1/2" and 10" coils compare on detecting in heavy iron trash? I'm pretty impressed how well the 10" works. I'm just guessing everybody will say the 5" is the way to go.

Rick, N. MI

Rick I use the 6.5" coil and I keep it on my F70 all the time. It is good in trash. I like it because it is very light and can swing it all day. You still have to swing slow. It will weed out those good targets. I have not used the 5"DD coil. I have the standard coil on a rod in the car and the 11" DD is in the box at home in the closet. If you are going to do a lot of hunting in trash it probably would be a good idea to get a smaller coil. A big coil in a trashy area will work but it just takes much more work to get those good targets in all that noise. That kind of detecting can tire a guy out quickly.... Thanks for reading....Z

That said please do not discount the small nifty 6.5. It is concentric not DD and works very well where "Rusty caps' are a problem..and I will say in my opinion and experience
helps in iron infested areas finding Good targets mixed in with the little pieces of iron.

It smooths out the detected area so to speak....
