Nice mixture of finds today

I got a mixture of finds today, I started out with getting two very early Choo Choo buttons, guessing the age around 1860? Then I got the piece of metal with the Pat date 1850 on it. Shortly thereafter I got what I thought was a piece of old spoon with a design on it, but it turns out it might be a old lock cover and the design is an Eagle, looks early 1800 style.
I then walked on a road that was almost impossible to detect on it was filled with iron type slag, and I was hoping not to find a copper on it, but I did, I got my first "Woody" colonial of the year.
On my way back to the truck I decided to ping a tad in the woods next to the road and got a nice button (pewter) and less than 3 feet away I got a 1794 Large Cent.
The ML 8 inch coil did excellent today, but I do believe the Large Cent was on the edge of it capability for picking it up, I dug it at about 10 inches, which is one of the deepest Large Cents I have gotten in the woods in a long time. The signal was there, the tone was good, the crosshairs were right for it to be a Large Cent, but it was a very tiny hit, if I would have been moving faster I would have probably missed it..

I'd be happy with a 93 Liberty Cap Large Cent, and then work on getting the 1799 $$$$ <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Great finds Don, I love that large cent! I found an 1802 LC a couple of weeks ago. Randy (NJ)

Don, there has to be a 1793 out there considering how many you dig. Do you know of many being found in ## <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

This morning I realized why the Large Cent was not registering like it should have at 8-10 inches, even with the ML 8 inch coil.
I forgot that while I was walking the slag filled road, I had to lower my Sensivity down to 15. Well, when I went into the woods, I never raised it back up again. So, the ML8 inch got that LC at 8-10 inches with over half of the Sensivity cut out, which is probably and inch or two of depth at that reading............
I used the Stock coil this morning at the same site and did not like it. Too much brush to get around and too much falsing, I guess I am to used to the ML 8 inch after 3 years of using it as my main coil.
I will save the Stock coil for beach and field hunting, not the brushhog type of hunting I usually do!

Ever think of going down to a 5 inch? Might be productive at those iron infested cellar holes.

found in a field, lying on top of the tilled soil, I spotted it about the same time the coil swept over it, thought it was a button <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
