nimh batteries for quattro

Hi Guys,
Have any of you guys noticed when you have charged your nimh batteries for the Quattro. If you leave it for a couple of days it will drop to the second mark. My detector is just 2 years old. Normally if it is fully charged and you use it straight away it takes half an hour to drop to the second mark maybe it is dropping off with age.

Hi pinpointa, yes this is normal and the Nimh pack will drop off much sooner than a 12 volt alakaline pack. That is why you will lose a bar on the battery symbol sooner than a 12 volt pack. But even though you only have 2 bars indicated in the battery symbol you will be able to use your Quattro for a very longtime before it drops to the last bar. Yea, Pinpointta, I have the same problem, but as Wirecheif says, it should still give you some time on that set of batteries. The main thing, that I think the Nmh batteries have over alkaline is theres "no memorey". In other words, you can "touch them up", so to speak, by putting them on the charger for a while and bring them up to full charge without incuring the infamous "memory" problem of Nicads. I just put em on the old charger again for a few hours when they drop a few notches on the visual to bring em back up again, and it seems to do the trick. I have two separate battery packs that I alternate between use in order to have a backup while the other one is charging. I even bought another battery holder from Kellyco in order to always have one to just "pop it in the old detector" when the other pack gets too low. Just a thought. Marc Trainor.
