No cross interference

Went out today on a safari hunt with my new friend Walt aka Undatakr. We were side by side with our safari's and guess what! There was no cross frequency interference whatsoever. Only when the coils got within a foot of each other was there any chatter and it was minimal at that. This is just another positive on the safari. We found some pennies, nickles and clad and it was hot, but not humid. I was treated to lunch at Nick' Nest hot dog stand. This little stand has been in business since 1921. A strange thing did occur when I scrimmed out all numbers except 38 and 39 I still found a couple of pennies. Both were before 1982. I wonder why! Aren't these supposed to be silver or clad numbers ? Also I got to use Walt's pinpointer probe from Garrett it works great compared to my Automax (precision V4) which was 20 bucks at Kellyco when I bought my Safari. It really isn't worth any more than 20 bucks compared to the Garrett it's a piece of junk. Also found a 1950's diecast car made by Totsie Toys Chicago probably the only Jaguar I'll ever own. All in all the day was fun and we both netted over a dollar each in clad and pennie's, it was good just to get out Mding. Thanks Undatakr for a fun hunt. Ron :detecting:

That's good to know. I just got my Safari and want to see how it interacts with my wire's DFX.

Found out a while back that Garrett makes the best pinpointer. Much better than the Automax and also better than the pistol probe (you can't hear it).

Don't know how it will interact with the DFX. We both had Safari's. Hope it does as well with your wife's DFX, if it does you should be able to detect almost side by side. If I don't get a sunray Then I'll be getting the Garrett propointer, I really liked that little machine. Ron

Sounds like an awesome day! Interesting with your numbers? I too have the Automax V4 and think that it's an off balance piece of crap.Gave it to my father as well as my Ace 250.I currently use a pistol probe that works awesome but hard to use in deep holes sometimes because there is no descrimination and if there are nails or other small iron junk in the hole you get signals from every thing there. If sensitivity is your thing however the pistol probe is hard to beat!

I used to hunt with another hunter while we both used the Troy X5, while we didn't get any chatter, did notice that depth was effected......

I didn't notice any effect on the depth while detecting, helps keep the other guy or gal motivated. The ability to detect within close proximity to one another makes it more exciting especially when you're finding stuff.

I started out with that 20 dollar pinpointer when i got the gti 2500..It broke the 1st week...I then ordered a vibra probe..Very tough and good probe. After i switched over to the minelab Se i went with the sunray in line probe(put one on my New E-Trac also)..Best thing i could have done in my eyes..It has amazing depth(only one that goes deeper is the pistol probe),also it uses the detectors batteries, you cant lose it being attached.I like being able to discrim with it also(uses the detectors settings)as i get alot of targets with junk or iron in the same hole. The best pin pointer out there is the one that works for you tho :) Glad the safari is coming thru for you, they are awesome machines.Thx for your post..HH
