no gold loot today, but i did find a nice piece of old shipping history - one of my best finds - I think - :) :)

u never know what the surfgod has in store for u in the lane.

the nighthawk and had the mumbles until we crossed over south of the border. a few blocks south we both strike earrings, mine is meager silver ticket, but the hawk-------------found a super nice gold one, one of the nicest gold earrings i have seen.

then back north we go and we run into the weather lady and she did fail badly on the forecast, but shortly after a nice hug i received, i found what i consider one of my best finds ever.

the spin today...............just us three in the lane today.

cool find Max. I have kept both of the ones that I have found. You don't get them very often but when you do you need to keep them because they are rare to find:)

As soon as possible you should place the wood with the spike in a bucket and let it soak in fresh water. Let it soak for a couple weeks and change the water a couple times.

That will leach all the salt and other minerals out of the wood.

Scrubbing it with a plastic bristle brush while it's in the water a few times will help dislodge scrunge from the wood.

When you take it out to dry, let it dry slowly like in the shade at the back of your garage. If it dries fast it will crack more.

Once it's bone dry, brush it off then paint it with some teak oil. The wood will look beautiful and will make a nice display piece.

Great find.

Cheers.

Max if you have no laws about recovery of historical artifact, like we have in Fl. check with your local University archaeological department and they should be able to run test on the wood and date it for you. With a document of authenticity it will be worth allot more. They can tell you how to preserve it also. Good luck and yes it would mean more to me than gold. I can go get gold at the store.

Or you could mount it like BH did and wear it around your neck.
