No silver but lots of coins with the SE today

kickback

I took the SE to what I thought was an old park this afternoon.I dug 25 clad quarters,32 clad dimes,1 nickel and 43 memorial and zinc pennies.I couldn't understand why not even a Wheatie. The park was built in 1982 not 1928 as I had seen when I was researching it.I laugh everytime I think about that. It's hard to type,I'm laughing at myself again.Just as I left the park I found the sign dedicating it's opening in some tall weeds and brush.I dug 2 popcans before I learned how to size better.Smashed flat aluminum screwcaps were hard,at times,to distigush from some of the pennies. Most of the 10-06 signals were pulltabs.Got to work on learning the nickel tones better. This was the second hunt with the SE other than playing with it in the yard.I ran iron mask at 26,auto sens at 22(I tried to run it higher but it would get unstable, chattery) conductive tones, pretty much James ND's setup. The park was in a town of 382 people.I have to go take some Geritol and bathe in Ben Gay.This is hard work for an old fat man.

First off, if the Park was built in 1982, you probably won't find anything old there unless by accident due to someone having something in their pocket change that they didn't know they had and lost it. You have to look for them older looking sites that show age to them. Ball Diamonds that have that old fencing or backstop on them with houses that look like they go back a ways....at least into the 50's, Parks with the older homes surrounding it, etc. Even though you use my settings, you will need to find the older areas to get them older coins you seek. If you get time, PM me and I will see if I can't locate a potential site for you to go try that I know is old. I have tons of books and might be able to help you out. I wouldn't mind giving you a site to hit that I haven't been to before just to see if you get lucky and start popping out some goodies. Yep! Them Nickels sure are tough to find and I also need to try and get use to them signals so I can improve on finding more of them. Congrats on all the Clad you got and hope you have better luck next time. Good Luck and HH to you Kickback.:detecting:

Sounds like you did a heck of a job digging! We've all hit parks we thought we were old, but only yielded clad. Not everyone finds silver on every trip out! Thanks for the story - good read.
