I have a cz20,that I can not get a threshold or gb to work right in auto tune. It will sill find targets but I am not getting the depth that I should. I am sure that if I sent it to fisher they would want to upgrade it to a cz21 to fix it .With the cost of the upgrade?Would I be better off to get another cz20 thats in good shape and try to get what I can out of mine,or do the upgrade?

If the time comes that my CZ20 acts up, I think I would do the upgrade, if it is still offered. They recently raised the price of a new CZ21. I don't know if that price increase affected the upgrade option or not.
In my opinion, the price that I heard was in place last year for a CZ20 to CZ21 upgrade; one that could turn a broken detector into essentially a new one, was a bargain. Doing the upgrade, either with your existing coil or with a new coil, you got either an upgrade (using your coil) for a bargain, or (with new coil) got a new unit for much less than the price of a new one. I have not heard any information on the upgrade since the CZ21 price went up. Only possible down side was that if you had a hot unit, there was no guarantee that the upgraded unit would also be a hot one. Of course if a hot unit is broken ... it isn't so hot anymore.
Maybe worth calling them.

I called Felix,he said they still do the upgrade starting at $ 299.00 and up it may need a new coil I can not do that at this time.So I started to think if the coil is out of tune and I can not use the gb normally ,thought I would do something different, so I took a nickel and laid it on the ground set dis at 0 sen 10 and turned the gb up to the point where I lose the nickel I could not go any higher than 8 .This may not be the best gb setting but I can still hit the nickel at 9 inches on a freshwater beach,and I can still use it for a while longer maybe.
