Same thing happened to me last week. I bet all of them were below5 or 6 inches. The other previous detectorists didn't have Explorers and cleaned the surface for us.

I've ran into places like that. There's basically nothing till you get to about 7 inches then there's nice coins left that other detectors couldn't hit. Nice finds! HH!
