I just got a new pinpointer a few days ago and suspect it may be a defective one. My first question for those who have one is, what depth can I expect from it? I did some testing using a clad quarter and with sensitivity turned up all the way was only getting 1.5 inches. That was with one of the covers on. Really thought I would be getting more. My old Garrett pro pointer was getting closer to 2.5 inches on the quarter. Next is if the nokta pinpointer is supposed to automatically do something like detuning to targets? What I mean by that is I noticed once I got the quarter to right where it started to be detected right around 1.5 inches from tip the pointer will slowly beep for 4 or 5 times but then stop. So then I would move it closer by about a quarter inch or so and it starts slowly beeping again steadily so I move it closer by about half an inch and the beeping speeds up a little like expected but now if I move the quarter Back a half inch it isn't detected any more. So I can just keep doing that back and forth till I get right up to the tip and the quarter isn't detected unless it's right up close to the tip, unless I remove it far away from pinpointer and start all over and it starts detecting it around the 1.5 inch mark again. It's as if the detector is just automatically losing sensitivity doing it that way. I can de tune my pro pointer by turning it on close to the quarter but the nokta seems to do something similar without having to turn it on and off. Hope I'm making sense. Also if I move the quarter slowly enough I can actually touch the tip of pinpointer and it just beeps fast, not producing a constant beep but if I move it faster and touch the pinpointer with the quarter then it will produce a constant beep when quarter is touching the tip. Very strange. Is all this normal or do I have a defective one?
