Normal ID and full tones?

So a full tones ?
When i used to make programs and change freq it would mess up the notching and vdi and had to make programs for each freq. Now i am using full tones would Norm ID work so when I change freq the VDI stays the same? Also does tone from a penny in freq 8 sound like a penny in freq 11 and so on in Norm ID does the tone stay the same as well?

Good question. The answer is: maybe. (just messing with you ) I don't use Norm ID, so I can't comment on its effect on pitch while using Full Tones between different frequencies.

I do know if you take Norm ID out of the picture, then when using full tones with different frequencies, the same target will have a different pitch in each frequency because its ID value changes with the frequency being used. For example: a dime in 4Khz will ID at 73; in 8Khz it will ID at 84; in 12Khz it will ID at 88; and in 18Khz it will ID at 91. Since tone pitch is associated with ID number, 73 will be a lower pitch than 84 and lower still than 88 and even lower still than 91.

Maybe someone else has experimented with Norm ID using Full Tones with different frequencies and can provide some insight. How 'bout it guys?

I use Norm ID when I hunt and my understanding is when Norm ID is "on", the VDI numbers stay the same, across the board, no matter which frequency used. That is why I use it. Only have to remember one set of numbers. As for tone, I primarily only hunt in one frequency, 12. So not sure if the tone changes. It seems that the tone would change because of the different frequency used. ID Norm only effects the VDI numbers I believe.

Did an experiment last night using full tones...when ID norm is used, the VDI numbers stay the same in all frequencies, but the tones change depending on the frequency used.
