I was excited to get out this morning and try some new settings. (Thanks LaDigger!) The first place I went was an old ball field across from a park. Went back to check it out today and apparently they built a new fire station right on top of the old ball field.
The old park across the street from the fire station was still there, another place I have never hunted. There is a huge water tower in the middle of the park, surrounded by electrical lines and boxes everywhere. No matter which settings I lowered, the machine was useless from the EMI so it was time to pack up and move on. I drove for a while to the park where I had found the 16' D (wheatie) and the four clad kennedy halves. I call this place Arlington National due to the amount of Kennedys I found burried there.
Shortly after I started hunting, a team of lawn mowers showed up to mow the place. My headphones aren't the best so the outside noise was too much and it seemed like I was in the way so I took a break. Finally after grabbing a bite to eat and waiting for them to finish mowing, I had just a little bit of time left to detect before I had to head home and get ready for work. The Ferrous tones really seemed to do the trick for me. It made it really easy for me to tell quickly what was worth digging without looking. I also slowed down some more from my already slow pace and tightly overlapped my swing. I only had time to dig a few targets, but I have no complaints. A little bit of clad surfaced followed by ANOTHER clad Kennedy half. Then as I was about to leave, that sweet high repeatable tone with half the cursor jumping off the top right corner, BAM, 43' merc!
Thanks again for your help LaDigger and others for all the help!
JJ
