Hey regulars.
It seems to be taking me a little bit of time to adjust to the goings on at this site. You all apear to be very decent folks but a little different (not in a bad way) FROM THE OTHER DETECTING SITES.I will side line a little longer.

you have been getting some razzing, and I will explain why from my perspective, others can speak for themselves.

When you first posted on the Findmall Tesoro forum you indicated you were in Maine, I'm in NH but go over from time to time to the coast. When I asked where you hunted, you were very elusive. Another poster on this forum asked the same thing, once again you were elusive.

If you are hunting certain land areas or freshwater lakes I can understand you wanting to maintain some secrecy. But the ocean beaches change with every tide. The same 100 sq ft you detected today will be different tomorrow. None of the posters here are interested in poaching any of your spots, even the lurkers will gain nothing on you even if you mention which ocean beaches you are hitting. As a matter of fact my question to you on the Tesoro forum was to see if you were hitting the same areas I am, and that we might hook up at some point.

There are some VERY experienced beach hunters here who will go out of their way to help anyway they can. I even see the guys and gals down VA way will invite you down, set you up to hunt, and even take you out to dinner. These are very giving, downhome, and unselfish people.

And there is a second matter which is the posting of your finds. Your original post led me to believe that YOU found all those items in the last two summers. All very well and good, but then you pull the pic and state that your buddy had not consented. I believe it is bad form to post items leaving the impression that YOU alone found them when you didn't. I am suprised other posters didn't get pretty testy over that.

You will notice some here post there good finds and junk so as to not leave the impression with lurkers and newbies, that this hobby is easy and all you ever find is goodies.

So this is why you're getting razzed, it's a gentle reminder to lighten up and relax. Nobody's out to get you, or invade your detecting space.

Peace!

I have met some of them and you can't find nicer people. There is a lot of razzing and joking but all in good fun. Don't be a northern stick in the mud.........live a little and have a lot of laughs.

Sorry, just trying to project a little levity. Hard to do this line with a southern accent.

I KNOW THE BEACH CHANGES EVERY TIDE BUT THERE ARE HOT SPOTS THAT WHEN THE SAND IS RIGHT WILL GIVE UP ALOT OF LOOT!!! NO NEED TO GIVE UP ALL YOUR SECRETS TO THE LURKERS!

I think your question "Are you looking for the ring owners" on the other post was the reason for Low Tide Pete to remove the picture. Right after you posted that he responded to you and an hour later he removed the picture.

Well said Bill.

I know Pete personally, and one thing is for sure -- he is a class act. I met him a few years ago swinging my MXT and since then, he has been a wealth of information, and quite a teacher. He taught me that you don't need an $1200 detector to find the goodies, you just need the right detector, and you need to know how to use it. Some days, I'd hit sand for 20 minutes without a signal, then run into Pete swinging that Silver. I'd say - "I knew you were around here somewhere".

By the way, from the beach where I met him, there is a great view of Casco Bay. LOL

Pete - welcome aboard, good to see you!

All the Items I posted were found by me and me alone, some of my buddies do not have the experience that you and I have.In teaching the fine arts of metal detecting, and repeatedly telling them that treasure is where you find it, they are still protective of geographic areas.
