Call me stuped, but I still havnt got a handle on using this feature on my F4.So I dont use it at all,am i missing something??:help:

The notching is very easy to use. If you need a hand understanding how to use it let me know. That said I don't think you are missing much. Most users seem to recommend using discrimination only for the two iron levels and listen to all other signals. For that reason I don't need the notch feature. If there is a certain type of trash that keeps coming up at a certain site, you could "notch in" just that item so you won't hear it.

Thanx Boston Metal,me and my cousin,[whom also has F4] pretty much came to that conclusion on sunday For the time being im not going to mess with it.:surrender:

Notch in reverse order. Do your highest notch point first. i.e.zinc. Do your second highest next i.e. nickle. Then the next highest i.e.foil.
That way you never have to pass back over a notch you have already done and risk turning it back on
I struggle a bit more doing it from low to high
Let me know how you go

Thats worth a trie alimo88,When i notch something out it only stays "notched"for a few seconds is that right?? Seems more like a temporary disc.??

thats the TIME-OUT not quite right

press notch

then without too much delay (less than about 3 seconds) use your plus + discrim button to go to the highest thing you want to notch (make it unlit or notched) then re press notch to save

if you want to notch another lower thing just repeat the process .

bet you get it now hahahha

I am on my way outside right now.....LOL

I used to notch out things.. mainly in junky places, but now I dont bother, my mind automatically notches out the stuff you dont want to hear... usually I'm after one or two tones and everything else i just don't hear... I have a feeling.. and it is a seat of the pants thing, that the detector feels a smidg slower with things notched.... probably isn't, just feels that way.
