NSW Gold Fields

G'day. Have the been awarded a leave pass by the Minister of War and Finance and thought I'd head west to NSW Gold fields for a spot of prospecting with my exterra 705. I have not done this before and don't have anywhere specific in mind. I thought Gulgong, Mudgee or Hill End? I don't have permission to prospect on any-ones property so I'd be looking for places where I can try my luck without getting myself in to trouble with the locals. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have plenty of motivation and a good 4wd so no excuses there. Regards, Aaron

Just want to wish you good luck

Good luck Aaron
The Xterras are very noisy in our Aussie goldfields due the very high mineralisation
All you do is GB as often as possible (or Tracking ON) and reduce Sens. so that falsing is tolerable
That 6" DD HFcoil would be my choice to use

I dont know where abouts in NSW you are, but near where I live there is a gold area in a place called Nundle. Ask at the information centre as they are very helpful as to the areas you can detect

Thanks all for the good wishes and advice. For' Vanner', Nundle is an area I hadn't considered. I'm at Newcastle and thought I'd make west for Gulgong, Mudgee but Nundle may be worth some last minute research. Thanks Mate, let you all know how it went. Aaron.

Hi mate, Ophir sounds good, are there any area's open to detectorists that you could suggest? Aaron

Yeah. there is a common there that you can detect on. You might want to touch base with the Tourist information centre at Orange, as they may be able to give you accurate information on it's location. It's next to the road that goes into Ophir, but I'm not sure where exactly.
Mick Evans.
