O-K...........I give up! Someone give me directions on how to pin-point with the Explorer II.............

don't even bother with the pinpoint button. X THE TARGET. Sweep over it and eyeball the spot on the ground where the signal is the strongest, then sweep over it perpendicular to the first sweep and eyeball the spot where the signal is the strongest. Where the two lines you just eyeballed crossed is the exact spot where the target is.

Try locating the target as you swing in short strokes start moving the coil toward you until the tone disappears... its at the tip. Deep targets will be a little more toward you. I like neals way too, but i can normallly just swing the coil until i know its on the tip and not have to X the target. Also, the new pro coil or SEF are far SUPERIOR for pinpointing.

The center strip that goes right down the middle of coil from top to bottom is the area which gives the strongest signal and keeping this in mind the two ways may make sense to you..To aid you at first run a strip of white masking tape down this line on the coil..I would go to a beach where digging is easy in the sand or put a coin under cardboard raising the coil to simulate depth and all will fall into place. Lot different than a concentric coil but after a while your double D used on an explorer should become a good pinpointer..Heck just read page 60 of the Explorer 11 manual and follow directions my friend...

When all else fails, go to MLOTV.com and look at some of the videos on pinpointing. they might help

search for Explorer II pinpointing

There is one there just for that. There are other good videos there too for and about the Explorer II....do searches for Gary Brun and also Pat Watson...there are others but these will be a start for ya

and they have the forum that is great too.

big ears.... if you hit your pinpoint and its LOUD then its likely a surface coin. Then... if you have the inline probe, find it very easily.
