Mark the spot! The area penciled in is where I can detect. For anyone who doesn't know what is going on this is an aerial view of a aprox. 200 acre 1890-1920 site that I was lucky enough to discover several years ago.I have found hundreds of coins and artifacts here and am convinced that a gold coin is somewhere on the property.Past finds have been found in all areas penciled in.Scale is 1"= aprox 100 yards.Anybody have a guess on where to dig?Special thanks to Royal for sending me the map.

Geesh, this is great! You mean I just have to point and you'll do all the digging? What a detecting buddy! <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
I'm gonna download the photo, print it out, and will post a couple "X" marks the spot shortly. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

...Wowwee there is stuff everywhere! <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
Right off the bat, a couple good hits. I've left the map big so you can line up landmarks.
The X in the circle will knock your socks off when you get over it. <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock">
On the other ones, go painfully slow, dig iffy signals, recheck your holes. You'll have to clear some junk for the mark that is lowest on the map.

It is interesting that the spots you marked are in the EXACT area of some of the most productive ground I have hunted at this site.I dug a 1890 silver dollar not more than 20 yards from the X you have circled. It will be easy to refrence this spot because it is almost directly across the road from a small (now empty) house.I will print this and take it with me tomorrow and give as many of the spots as I can a honest effort.I will post every keeper I dig sometime tommorow evening and note where they were found.Stay tuned......

...as I mentioned, my grandfather and his father were famous in the county for witching for water with a hazel switch. I've seen the bark peel off in his hands when it went down. He could count and even tell ya how deep to dig. For the most part though, all I ever seemed to get out of a hazel switch was from behind. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
So you know, I used a needle and thread. Kinda like the old pioneer technique shown below for sexing eggs. I even heard tell this works over a pregnant woman's belly. Anyway, it took less than a minute and the thing went like a magnet to the spots I marked.
Never tried this before, Dan, so the only guarantee I can give you is if you keep digging, you'll find something. Possibly water at 50'. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

With the high temp. tomorrow to be near 50 degrees with sunshine.Ground completely thawed with near perfect digging conditions.Fresh batterys in my detector and a genuine "buried treasure map",What more could a guy expect? I'll post "our" finds tomorrow night....Lol!

Try these two spots Dan. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">

Your picks will be easy to find. One is where a old fence line ends at a small stream the other is in a small grove of walnut trees.Interesting,Steve's picks are in a area where I have probably dug the greatest number of finds-but your picks are in an area where I have made the oldest finds.Your area slopes downhill and I have dug so many Barber coins in this area I call it "Barber Hill"....Thanks for joining in the fun. I will post the finds tomorrow night...

Go slow, trust your instincts and don't forget to thank the oldtimer upstairs, it's all His. Have fun Dan!
