Hi all,
This is my first real post here and I must say that hI am wildly happy about my recent Garrett 250 purchase. I recently acquired permission to hunt a private park that has seen habitation for about 200 years, in my neck of the woods that is ancient.
I statred to hunt it with my no sold CZ5 and found a few coins and some brass hardware here and there. I followed up with a whites prizmIV and found a few more coins in the heavytrash area around the house.
My ace250 arrived monday of this week and I ran out with it and found nothing other than soem largish brass bits and a bit of foil. The pinpoint would be dead silent at times when the unit gave a high coin sound...I almost threw it out...I was furious.
I remembered on an old freedom unit by Garrett that there was an iron reject toggle....hmmmmm I thouhgt. I went back out today and WOW! It goes silent over large iron, I don't know why maybe it is overloading or just plain silencing over the iron. Can someone explain if possible?
I dug a few "silent" pinpoint mode targets and they were iron everytime.
Now here is the good part. I went back to the heavy iron area, lots of square nails and fence wire. I pulled out 5 older coins. 1913 1/2 penny, 2 silver Canadian quarters, 2 Canadian nickles, a copper canadian penny and a wheatie. The 1/2 penny had a square nail stuck right to it and it still high coined the target! Is this normal? I hope it is.
Anyway, I hope you are all having a good summer and dig well and dig often. <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
