That makes two of us. I still haven't taken mine to the beach to try it out either. I just got a new 10x14 coil and I'm dying to try it out when things warm up a bit.

Be careful not to get too close to the water. It's tempting to go and detect in the shallows but drop the detector just one time and it will damage or kill the circuit board. Detect with no discrimination and max; sensitivity. Find out where the towel line was/ is and detect that thoroughly and of course a cut if there is one. Areas where there are flat depressions because they are natural 'traps' for heavy jewellery. Around volleyball nets and structures, they are prime spots where jewellery is lost.
Some gold rings come in the low 30's vid and they sound like a penny. You'll notice the difference between the two targets though. Any place around the boardwalk that people sit on and watch their friends (or good looking girls)!! playing volleyball! Also up near the rocks and cliffs where the surfers put their stuff down when they go out to surf. I snagged a men's platinum wedding band that I'm sure slipped off a rock where a surfer placed his clothes, sandals etc;.
After all is said and done, gold and silver jewellery is where you find it on a beach. Don't get discouraged if your not finding anything because people drop those items anywhere there. As they are struggling with kid's, playing ball, they hide valuables, watches etc; under a towel when they go into the water, parents helping kid's to build sandcastles etc; etc; etc;!
I LOVE to detect on any beach and my best finds in the form of gold and silver jewellery have been found at the beach!! Good luck and I hope you find some treasures!

Hello everyone thank you for all the great advice i finally got the the beach and this is my result i was able to run in all metal and in manual 16 sensativity very little falseing only when i went from dry to wet sand i was useing a 13 inch excellorator 2 coil and man it went deep! Most targets at over a foot. ID was really great. But unfortunately no gold many pieces of aluminum and such plus spme battery money over all my Safari was a hit at the beach.

One thing's for sure, IF there were any gold and silver targets, you would have detected them with that set-up!! A suggestion for you....invest in a RNB Inovations.com rechargeable 3100 mAh Lithium Ion battery. I used to buy crazy amounts of AA's in bulk but it ended up I was spending a ton of hard earned money on those. I finally splurged and bought one and havn't regretted it. On a single charge, it can last for 2-3 full day's of detecting. No more running to Costco or wherever to buy bulk batteries. You'll never go back to AA's.
