Odd Groove?????

Here's a .54 cal. Gardner bullet I found that has an odd groove clear through the side of it. notice how the groove is textured like a file or a rasp. Could this be caused by a blow-through??? Any ideas what caused the groove???

Is it fired or a drop? Might be a bad casting caused by a foriegn object in the mold.

Andy, other than the groove and just a little tiny spot of loose lead around the top it appears to be a drop. The groove is fairly uniform until where it actually goes through the cavity and then it's enlarged and rough.

It does appear to be a casting flaw. Trapped air will do this. Nice find regardless. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

Thanks for the help AndyB and David. HH
