Off to Philly

I'm headed to Philly Sunday for some high angle rope rescue training. Just when they are having heat warnings. I can handle dry heat but the humidity..........ugh.........at least it isn't fire training.......wearing turnouts in that heat is the pits. Boo hoo, no detecting for a few days. I won't have time to detect while I'm there

You are always bragging about your weather in Ca. I hope it is 90+ with 100% humidity in Philly.

All those easements and no detector. Maybe some old sidewalks being replaced.

If you wanted vertical training that's no problem. I know of some good vertical caves and we have all the equipment you need. The hardest thing I encountered was tying a bowline with 500 ft. of rope. It can get messy. The one who ties the knot is the first one down.

People were posting about their weather, I just thought they might want to hear about mine

If you wanted vertical training that's no problem. I know of some good vertical caves and we have all the equipment you need. The hardest thing I encountered was tying a bowline with 500 ft. of rope. It can get messy. The one who ties the knot is the first one down.

As long as it is top of the line equipment I'm in. As long as all the rigging is checked by a Safety Officer (and myself) I'm good to go. Here are a couple shots of me last year in Canada.

As you can see, besides our main line we ALWAYS have a safety line. Safety never sleeps when I'm around

I have never been to either. I have a map to Geno's. Whadda you think?

I like Pat's but it is pretty hard to beat any cheesesteak you get in the Philadelphia area. Pat's is across the street from Geno's (sort of diagonal.) Pat's does not tolerate customers holding up the line so order like they want you to. My order is steak with or steak wid. (With onions.) You can get them with provolone or cheese whiz. Don't knock the cheese whiz it's better than it sounds. I think the way to order a steak with cheese wiz and onions is "whiz wid." Geno's is good too and I actually prefer their steak with cheese whiz over Pat's with cheese whiz. If I were you I'd have one at both places. When I drive down to see family I always bring home a few. They are not nearly as good the next day but they're still pretty damned good.

There is also a place called Jim's and you can get a beer there. It might be more of what you expect from a cheesesteak.
