No previous winners in the same category during 2004 can enter. If you haven't received your prize for any contest previously this year I need you to send me information about it. Include a picture and the name you won under as well as the email you were using then.
Thanks... Guvner..

I found this 1895"O" Barber dime on Nov 7th with my Explorer XS2 in an old grove park my dad and I have been hunting. I was shocked to see what it was worth in the 2004 red book.. then someone with the new 2005 book said it starts out at $300.00 I'm glad I didn't scratch this one with my digger I know Barber dimes are common finds but this one I thought was worth entering. We have found several "O" mint mark barbers in this park. Not sure why that is Here's a couple pics of the coin and the park where it was found.

found this button in the woods in November.
it's a Marines button, not sure how old, maybe late 1800's.
it was deep, and i thought i had a coin by the way it read on the Explorer.

Not the greatest shape but it put a BIG on my face.

While walking an old sandy road that has been torn up by ATV's, in the loose sand on the side of the road only 2 inches down was this beautiful 1805 Half Cent. I was using the Explorer with the Minelab 8 inch coil installed. This is one of the best half cent I ever found. There are four varieties of the 1805 Half Cent, this is Cohen 4 varitey, which is identified by the size of the 5 in the date and by the stems on the reverse side.

I feel bad that both plates were damaged by my recovery, but I am satisfied that I got them and the dates off of them.
I sure have no idea why back in 1906 the made plates for checks, including date, amount, signatures all on the plate. Anybody have an explanation.
The larger check is from the National Bank of Boyertown, which is in Pennsylvania. The amount $200 The date looks like Apr 24 1907 or 1906.
The smaller check mentions Philadelphia and Atlantic City, I cannot make out the amount, but the date is Apr 23, 1906.
Cool finds either way.
The top part of the pictures are how the plates look, which is in negative for us to read, so I flipped them in the photo program to be able to read then, that is the lower photos.
I was using the Explorer witht the 8 inch coil, Iron mask -14.

Prospecting pin or brooch, black hills gold. Gold pan with nuggets, crossed pick and shovel with grape vine and grapes adorning it. It also has a rope braid circle around the pan.

Found using Explorer with stock coil on Nov 4th, about 2 inches deep. I had recently been digging all pull tab signals in hopes of finding gold and because it was getting late I almost passed this "pull tab" signal in hopes of hitting a "good" signal before it got dark. Took a step passed it then decided to hold to my game plan and went back to it. Good decision!
It is 14K gold with a total of 45 diamonds, marquis stone is a little over 1/3c with 10 round cut stones and 34 baguettes (rectangular stones) Total carot weight is just under 2c. The jeweler I took it to wanted $45 for a complete appraisal which I did not pay for so I did not get an appraised value but it's my best find ever. Just ask my wife

this was found where mainly 1700's and 1800's items have been dug. I think it's quite unique and fairly old. It is made of copper and is two pieces - the outline of a man and the hat behind his head are separate cutouts.
It was about 8" in the dirt. I'm not sure if it was an item made for a child to play with or was a logo to some long forgotten piece of farm equipment.

It's from New York. Below is a link that shows one exactly like yours.

Looks like I jumped the gun on the voting. I misread Gary's note above. Please forgive my exuberance.
