Since I thought the "Sq tabs" thread was really good, & I think I learned something myself :nerd: Now, I'm still wondering about indian heads being seperated from tabs. I always just assumed they were about the same #. If we have decided that tabs are for the most part BELOW +17, than I would venture to say a good "coins" disc setting for the Excel would be +16? Due to the C$ pie chart, when I wanted to coinshoot I set the Excel at +18 to cancel tabs. But, now I believe I nulled some indian heads :cry: Due to our discussions, I think 16 is best now. Would you guys agree? Yes, ya miss gold & nickels, but this is a "coins" disc setting. If an occational sq tab sneaks in, to me it's worth it to grab the indians....
Now,,,for Coin$triker's who use NOTCH. Now I'm wondering if the C$ Tabs notch is set too high if the sticker is wrong? I rarely notch so I'm just curious now.....
what I mean is that if the C$ Tabs notch cancels +17 to +18 your losing indians & stuff using this? Anyone know the exact number range "TABS" notch eliminates on the C$? Again, I rarely notch. But since there's just one basic TAB notch, I imagine FRL wanted to cover all of 'em & maybe it's like 10-18? or so? HH, BFL Bill :banned:
 
Most of the Indians I have found have been around the +16 - +19 range. So I would definitely include +16 in the coin range setting. If a square tab sneaks in now and then, so what? Look at all the other "stuff" that pops up in the coin range. It's just part of the hobby! One more thing bill.....Don't you go discriminating the Indians! You'll have the NCAA all over you!

Since the C$ homepage says 11-14 is very common I believe. I should have known you would know MIke with all those excellent charts you put together :)
 
I have found 4 silver 3 cent pieces, all locked on at 14! Are you sure you want to notch at those older sites that hold those possibilities? I prefer to dig it all; or, at least, hear it all and make up my own mind.

Good discussion though, I enjoyed the info about notch ranges.

Like most I tend to dig it all but I did use the notch on the C$ some. First thing I learned was ya gotta leave the tabs in, if for only this reason; Notch em out and you won't get a repeatable hit on stuff that bounces from 17-19. With tabs notched out the audio only kicks in when your sweep over the target hits the higher number. That is a royal pain in the arse as far as I'm concerned! One of the reasons I like the Excel is that for those times when I do want to knock out lower conductive items its up to me where to set the disc, not some notch zone set by an engineer sitting somewhere.

was setup so that you could program out what numbers you want to blank the audio on would that be an improvment? Whaddaya think?

I'd buy it in a heartbeat. For instance, we hunt a place that is also used by the National Guard for war games. The place is littered with brass. I think they ring up around "24" on the C$. I would love to knock out "24" only. "Selective notching" on the C$ and Tone ID on the 1280 are my top 2 projects for FRL!
 
I agree. I gave them an example of a shotgun area where they were all +12. If I could delete +12 the site would be huntable w. a C$. But as you said, I can try the Excel on disc +12....
