I have had Whites XLT,QXT,IDX,Prizm V,Tesoro Deleon,Fisher 1236X2,Troy Shadow X3,and currently a Fisher 2 &5.Are the Minelabs really that much better? I'm thinking of the X Terra 305 or 505 and are the ability to ID targets any better than detector I've owned. I have been watching the videos on em.To me the audios sond better also along with the VDI numbers.I am thinking of going for a Minelab, so lets here some answers Thanks

Hi Woodchuck..I'm kinda of a newbie, only been detecting for 3 years. I currently use the xterra705, but my first machine was the xterra30. I think i had some awesome finds at good depths with it using only the stock coil so i can imagine how good the 305 or the 505 would be with the added features it carries and multiple coils ya can us on them..I like the minelab machines. Here a few of the nice coins that I had found with the X30. Good luck! Emmett

Get outa town! Those finds are awesome!! VERY NICE. Way to go.....:clapping:

I personally prefer the X-Terras over the XLT and although I don't have the F5, I do have an Omega, which is a near cousin to the F5; I prefer the X-terra over that as well. Mainly because that the tones of the X-terras are easier on the ear, it's light, simple to use and it has a volume control.
Sorry it's not in depth but most of the way through writing this, I accidentally deleted my post, So I didn't won't to rewrite the whole thing again.

P.S. It comes down to personal choice. Most good detectors will find coins if they are in the ground. Better, might also be understood as to suite your personal hunting style, or if you hunts specific targets, some detectors are able to give you certain information that may help separate certain good targets from junk ones in the same range.

I tried My sisters IDX Pro and just did not care for it and I have aTroy Shadow X5 that just hanges in the garage (That is just wrong I know, I know don't even say it). Both of those machines have great reps but I just have a hard time getting away from the tones of the Minelabs. my Bounty Hunter just frustrated me, its gone now. The BH was a 3 tone machine and the guy who has it now likes it but it drove me crazy. I was confused for the first little while by my Xterra but I was new to the hobby and it went away fairly soon and I love that machine.

Instead of just adding pics of my finds with the X30, i should have also commented what i like about the machine. It was easy to use and i gotta tell ya, i love the ID on the machine. It seemed to be always accurate for me! Especially the depth segment notches. When I got ID's in the 36-44 range with the depth segments at 3 notches( 4- 6 inches deep), I was usually very happy at what i dug up. Probably 9 times outta 10 it was some kind of silver coin! I found the 30 very easy to use and would say the 305 and the 505 would be an awesome choice with all the extra bells and whistles and coil choices! I really do love this hobby! Happy Hunting! Emmett

I've had my X-70 almost 4 years and still can't bear to part with it. Beautiful tones, (especially on silver), very light, accurate and very easy to operate.

Answer = yes they are good, I think they are one of the 2-3 market leaders.

BUT....IMHO many machines will find you the goodies if you devote the time to it and learn the detector inside out and backwards.
Researching sites, gaining permission to hunt them and the other part of success
Happy swinging
