Ok.....I need suggestions on coils

I have a stock coil on my GTI 1500. Is there a coil recombination for sites that have a lot trash in the ground. I went to a river front park today and my detector couldn't lock on anything. Ended up leaving empty handed. I know the smaller coils will work, but no imaging. So my question is ,....,How do you use a smaller coil without imaging ? It sounds like a stupid question but I don't like digging a lot of trash. Is the 4.5 in. scorcher a good choice?

I use the 5x10 DD coil with good success. The recovery speed is faster and by listening to the width of the signal, both in normal mode, then pinpoint, you can figure coins out pretty good with it.
I used this combination on the 1st of January in Sydney. I hunted 3 harbour foreshore parks that were full of party goers the previous night. These parks are used every new years eve and literally have many thousands of people in them. You can imagine how many crown caps there were in the ground. Also, some of the ground I hunted before the council cleaners had arrived. Without exaggerating, I would say that only 70% of the ground was visible to the naked eye. I have never seen so much rubbish on lawn before. Despite all this, my 1500 performed much better than it would have if it was armed with the imaging coil and I was usually able to identify crown caps from coins, even though they fell in the same areas of disc as the gold ($1 and $2) coins that I was hunting. The ground was putrid with crown caps. I finished the hunt for that day with a personal best amount of $118!
I find that the audio is more animated when you use the 5x10, which compensates to a large degree, the loss of the imaging coil. It's also noticeably lighter.I haven't used the sniper coil so can't made any insightful comments about it.

I only use two coils myself. Stock and Scorcher. I use the Scorcher about 5% of the time but those times the stock coil would not function at all due to trash or the proximity of metal poles or fences. I read Mick's response and I can't speak for what he said having never used the dd coil but he is a real master hunter and when he speaks I usually listen.
