General Rules

The Finds Treasure Forum Classifieds is for individual use only with the exception of banner advertising buyers. Those buyers may advertise their traded in, discontinued models, etc.

Individual sellers may post their normal unwanted detectors, or accessories in assigned classified forums, but they  cannot exceed (1) one item in a (3) three month period for each classified forum.

Only For Sale, For Trade, or Wanted to Buy ads are allowed.

Only Forum Members Registered for  90 days or longer that have more than 24 significant posts in our other forums, may post For Sale or Trade ads.

Rules for Non Sponsoring Sellers:

  • Items for sale, or for trade, should be your own personal property and be accurately described.
  • Your for sale or trade post should be self contained, without references to another site where you may also have it for sale.
  • Do not put links to eBay.
  • Do not put links to other forums where you may also have the same item for sale or trade.
  • Dealers are not allowed to post in Classifieds unless they are a sponsor.

Advertisements not adhering to the above rules will be deleted without warning or notification.

I have the Minelab Xterra 305 and it's one hell of a machine.
But is the GArrett 1500 any better ??

I have the Ace 250 and the Minelab Xterrra 305
The Ace's coils are;
Stock coil
Sniper coil
Excelerator 10 x 14 DD which is a real kicker..

Bruce, The whole idea of the Exterra series of detectors is that you can change out the coils to one that is optimized for another frequency.
That plus having the RF electronics board right in the coil reduces the signal losses of running a coax all the way to the detector box.
The Exterra is better in the respect that you can coin hunt with the low frequency coil and then switch out and beach for gold with a high frequency coil.
With the HF elliptical coil you have a decent nugget hunter.

At the same given frequency and coil size I dont know which detector would detect deeper but I strongly suspect it would be a close race.
 
Thanks for the reply. A friend of mine was trying to get me to switch over.
I do have to admit it's been a great year with the 305, but you know the story.
Always trying to find the perfect machine..
I do love the Ace 250 as a back up detector
