........OK............WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SOVEREIGN ELITE AND THE SOVEREIGN GT??

Joe,most hunters think the GT has an edge over the Elite on deep targets.The battery system is on par with the newer GT.The Elite uses the old S rod,but after market straight rod assemblies are easy to find and inexpensive.An Elite with a 180 meter and S1 probe will perform much better than a GT without these add ons.If you find an Elite at a good price the up dates aren't going to hurt the wallet as much.I would look close at the extras in the sale extra coils,battery charger,probe,and meter.Ask the seller if any or what mods have been done.All Sovereigns in good condition are great units and usually end up with custom accessories to suit the operator.
