read that book Ive sent to Mike??It makes for real good reading.SOME advice, though:Take it with a grain of salt...The author hints around that its just sittin there (on PRIVATE land,of course!!)owned by some paper Co_Odd thing is,though:The author claims he contacted this paper Co.that supposedly owns the land where its hidden;and was met with silence.OK MIKE!!After you have read it,you can contact me with a date when we will abandon our present lives, and go off to the Keweenaw searchin for somethin that stands a good chance of not even existing...:help:While we are there;I will also search for my mind-If I go after that "lost mine";I will have to also search for my "lost MIND":help::(

wrap your mind in aluminum foil .... it will keep your mind fresh and if ya do loose it it will be easy to find with the detector

I will have a contest when I am done for those interested, and the winner will get it, then they can do the same when they are done! :)
Also I will post pics of the stuff I find after I read it!

It involves Jefferson Davis' plan to assassinate Lincoln during the Civil War-It said he appointed some man to be in charge of it,and he traveled to Toronto incognito"with one million dollars in gold with him"..seems to me that $1 mil in gold would have attracted a LOT of attention back then;if you want to remain un-noticed.....

doesn't like aluminum like we don't care for it much when detecting.

At today's prices...trying to calculate the weight of 1 million in gold...

4,040 Troy oz. divided by 16 oz (converting to pounds) = 252.5 pounds of 9K gold

It would have to stay inside a stage coach or wagon they had back then.
Putting it into saddle bags wouldn't be a sound idea...unless you have extra horses to carry the weight (equivalent to a heavy man riding the horse) but then you can't leave it outside on a horse if one goes into a hotel overnight for sleep. Could be left on a carriage (stage coach) type vehicle - with someone watching it for nosey people.

Can't imagine carrying 100 pounds of anything so it would have to be broken down to say 25 pound sizes to fit saddle bags...but then who would carry inside a building like a hotel 11 saddle bags without drawing some attention? So leaving on a vehicle of some sort sounds more feasible. Being only the weight of say another man it wouldn't be excessive where the wheel tracks would make you think there is one heavy load of something on that vehicle.

Ok done babbling. If all this math doesn't work out then you know why I don't balance a checkbook very well.
