I have a XS that I was going to sell, however, seems everyone is scared because of the repair issue. I am thinking about setting it up strictly for gold. Any suggestions? It has a stock coil and a 15" WOT. What is all the PRO's setting it at if gold is all they want? Thanks in advance.

If you have Andys book on the Explorer he set his up for gold and jewerly on the beach. If you want to use a pattern its going to include disc OUT coins. Expanding the jewerly setting and dropping the coins will let you spend less time digging other targets you arent interested in. Personally, i think the XS is a great machine and just learning and practicing to sound of gold might be a better option. Most people dont like the patterns just because of the nulls. But they do have their place and will work. When i use one on the beach... i turn my threshold just below my hearing so i dont have since im not using the threshold to tell me when im in a target area like i do in a field. You really can just use auto sensitivity with reduce sensitivity since most jewelry wont be very deep.... id guess 5 inches max.
