OKM Black Hawk: Wort the BIG $$$?

GrievousAngel

New member
Hello all,

Got money now, so ready to buy the best I can afford! I ran across the OKM Black Hawk special offering on their website at ~ $2510 (or ~$3171 for the Professional kit including the smaller coil + huge 150cm x 150cm square coil that you walk with over shoulders).

Anyways ... what do you think? Expensive for a straight-ahead PI detector, correct? Admittedly, it's a very professional unit both from construction, components and spec viewpoint.

Any real experience with the back hawk?

Thanks,

Billy

I don't think you'll get many answers here on the OKM. Most folks willing to spend that kind of money on a PI, usually go with a detector with a proven track record like the White's TDI, Garrett Infinium, or a Minelab. There's a lot of companies selling junk with a high price tags trying to lure folks into buying their crap thinking it must be good because "look how expensive it is". Most if not all the "Long Range Locaters" are like this. In many cases they offer a money back guarantee (with a 20 - 40% restocking fee) read the fine print. Not say OKM fits in this category.

PI detectors each in all have ther own value in terms of specific use. As for open terrain the GPX 5000 is king for gold. However, if EMI interference is part of the mix, then the TDI stands out as the king. If water is involved then the Infinium. NOW, IMHO, if open dry land is what your main hunts will be , then the best you could get with that amount of $$$ your talking about dropping on a unit would be a used GPX 5000 !!! Like I said, this is just IMHO:detecting:
