Old church.

Found this old rural country church not far from my house and plan on doing a little detecting there tomorrow. Not sure how old it is, but I'm guessing 100 plus years at least. There isn't much area there to detect, but you never know what you might find. If I do find anything worth posting I will definitely post it. I'm sure it has been detected before, but it has probably never been detected with a Minelab..........:) Wish me luck. HH.

My daughter married a Methodist minister a year ago TODAY. He has TWO very small, very rural, very old churches. Almost all of his parishioners are people who own farms in the area and many belong to the PA "Century Farms" club, where the farm has been in the same family for 100 or more years.
Sure hope this marriage lasts (lol)

That church has to be 100+ years old. Too bad that they had to go and Blacktop the area where everyone parks. That is one of the hot spots at a church. Try detecting around the trees in the area also, just might still hold some keepers for you. Good Luck and hope you find something good.

If you have a church like that close by, why haven't you detected it before? Find out if it is privately owned and see if you can do some detecting around it. I am telling you there are Barber out in that Church Yard for sure. Who knows, Maybe even seated. Put that as a #1 priority on your list, I would. Good Luck!

Barber? thats all I needed to hear, Im on it.It's in the next county and I havent found out who owns it. I might just go hunt it tomorrow if it aint raining or snowing. If rain i suppose I could go to their library and look at platt book.
Also have been sharpening my newbie skills before I make the drive, and I have been getting much better,Experience is my best advice.

Thanks James. I will check out around the trees and try and cover as much ground as I can tomorrow. I'm sure there is some coins buried under all that blacktop............:( Darn it!!!! Not much grass area there, but I will see what it might hold..........:)

I can't believe that you haven't hunted that place by now. Looks real promising and I wish you all the luck when you finally start detecting that church.................:)

I was just going to ask you to send me a private message and see if we are talking about the same church. You had me going there, but like I said, I'm sure this one has been hunted before just like all the rest have..........:)

Eddie

I would have to say that there is going to be a number of keepers in that yard. Good luck!

[quote Eddie in Poulsbo]I hope the marriage will last for a long time for you as well. Good luck on your hunts at those rural churches.............:) HH.

I've been hunting these parts for many years and I don't recall even seeing that church before. There is an old one room school house not to far from Poulsbo that I thought was probably hunted before also but turned out to be a virgin site with lots of goodies. I brought more than one person from the club to hunt that site. Actually I was with another club member out scouting for new sites when I found it.

Is that the one somewhere between Poulsbo and Big Valley? If it's the same one I'm talking about it's where the old chicken coop use to be also where they held dances there years ago.

No this is over on Bainbridge Island. It was built in the 1880's.I found it on a an old map and took Scott with me to find it. It's still standing and used as a community club house now. I wouldn't mind seeing what the Explorer could do there as I've used this place as a testing ground for different detectors thru the years as the stuff is deep. I have a Minelab Advantage coming this week and will try it out there also when I get off the ship next month.
