Old El Toro (Orange County, CA)

Hi all....

New/amateur detectorist here and wanted to share an interesting spot here in Lake Forest, CA, since I may never be able to properly hunt the spot (I have a $40 detector from China and it has no discernment) ... but this is a spot that use to be the location of a train station in a town that doesn't exist anymore called El Toro (abandoned El Toro Marine base is also nearby).

...check out a fairly barren strip of land immediately along the rails. This is where the depot was located. Farther down was the home of the section foreman—the person in charge of railroad maintenance—as well as additional homes for his crew.

This is that barren strip, which is where I've been hunting.

I've recovered several very old looking pieces of metal probably used for building... some very old looking nails as well. I imagine somewhere in that lot might be some old coins or something cool. It's a private spot, nobody bothers you.
