Old English Silver....what is it?

Goldstrike

Well-known member
I detected this silver piece a year ago on a trip to England (I go to England at least once a year). It came out of the middle of a grove of trees in an old park that I suspected has remained undetected for the most part. The reason I say that is because I detected over a hundred old English coins, all only 3 to 4 inch's deep, and a fairly modern but gold 14K ring in the same area. I can post some of the coins in another post. I just wanted everyone to take a look at this unknown and so far unidentified silver object in the hopes that someone can tell me what it is. Notice where the thumb is placed....between the index finger and middle finger.....I hope it's not a rude gesture!! It may belong to some kind of secret? society and that might be a sign? I also posted the silver marks and the only mark I can identify is the thistle which is an Edinburgh mark (Scotland) Maybe some English detectorists on this Forum can identify it?
Thanks for looking and your input in advance!
