Old home site finds

fwcrawford

Well-known member
Got out today with a couple of friends and hunted two old home sites.
The first one was out in what is now a field and there is no sign of it, but plenty of targets to indicate a home site.
The second site was in the woods and had a nice cellar hole that was rock lined.
The Virginia stated seal button was the best find of the day and my buddy Percy found this early which got us pumped up, although no other buttons were found.
I found the cow bell and spoon there also and was surprised the clapper is still intact.
The other item was found in the field and I don't have a clue what it is part of... could use some help on this one!
Anyone have any ideas?
While cleaning it, I noticed that there is a piece inside that pivots in the hole and it has a hole in the base.
It is made of bronze.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for looking,
Felix
