Old Mexican (Ciudad Victoria) finds

LINDABONITA

New member
I found all these relics in an old hacienda up in the mountains from Ciudad Victoria, Mexico. The weird thing about this trip is that I found a barber dime 1906 in a good state in the Sierra Madre from Mexico. This place, where I found the coin, is in the middle of nowhere and far away from today's mexican civilization. I have been looking for old coins in the U.S. with no success at all. I have close to 3 years in metal detecting and this is my oldest find up to date. I started with a bounty hunter and now I have an ace 250 , cx master plus and a tesoro compadre. Thanks for looking.

Looks like you had quite a nice hunt with a nice variety of finds,
A 1906 Barber dime is a good hit for sure ! You just never know
where things will turn up.. Like you said, that dime was in the middle
of nowhere. Nice recovery on your part. HH Gene

Are you from the US? Are you of Mexican descent? Speak Spanish? The reason I ask is because I wouldn't go anywhere near the Mexican side of the border with all the trouble that area is facing.

I would be very fond of that dime if I found it as you described. I love finding something miles away from where it should be, in the middle of nowhere. Cool relics too.

Chris

You have big hands for a woman named Linda.

in the 1940's range. Have also found a 1933 diez centavos silver coin. A buddy of mine found an 1885 silver mexican quarter in Mcallen Texas. While hunting yesterday at an abandoned housing project I managed to get a 1946 1/2 sol de oro from Peru, so these coins travel a lot.

WTG Linda nice finds

I am mexican, I was borned by accident in the U.S. but that is a long story. Anyways I would not recommend any anglosaxon from visiting Mexico since the bad guys would see that you are an american and would think that you have money. I don't have the look of an anglosaxon american and speak spanish perfectly. My english is bad though but not that bad when writing it.

Nice collection of goodies there little lady. You done good. As per Chris' post I remember when it was safe to hop back and forth across the border back in the fifties. Used to run down to TJ . Rosarito Beach, and other spots. Used to go fishing in the Sea of Cortez.

Quite nice!:thumbup:Love those old coins! Love the relics, too!:clapping:Hey, I see that you have the CX Plus. Do you have a two-box Treasure Hound unit for it? If so, it would be great to search some of those areas with it. Just curious.
My wife and I are full time RVers. We go down to Mexico regularly. Mostly Baja. We avoid the border areas for the most part. Use to be way cool, but it's a shame that it is so dangerous now.Have fun!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Hi,

years ago we had some success hunting along the frontier border and up to Alice. The beaches were always good. Now days I would not go anywhere near the border.
