older Goldscan questions,

how does this compare to the newer Deepstar or Goldquest on sensitivity to gold rings etc.? What does the meter read out? What voltage is the battery? Thanks, John

John,
The Deepstar unit you have would need to be brought to current specification for the Deepstar II, to put it in the ball game. There has been a continuing updating on the Deepstar since it

to the older "Goldscan" that Eric built, not to each other. I guess you misunderstood my question or I didn't make it clear. Info was good anyway. But I want to know about the older Goldscan that Eric made so I guess this is for him. It has a meter and I wanted to know what it was for and if the Goldscan compared to be close to the Beachscan or whatever it could be close to? Also what battery voltage is it? Thanks, John

as compared to the 14.4 volts on the older Deepstar? Thanks again, John

Boy are you going back in time.
Yes I ment the current Beachscan MK II, and Goldquest SS.
I get a little confused with all the name similarity.
Bill

Hello, for the goldscan ,the meter is for the signal strength and battery voltage is 14,4V (12X1,2V Nicad).Alex.

Hi John,
What model Goldscan do you have? The chest mount one with the battery in the same box as the electronics, or the later shaft mount lightweight model with the belt mounted battery pack?
Battery in both is 14.4V, as has been stated, 2.2Ah capacity. The meter displayed just signal amplitude, but was also useful for accurate ground balancing. It was easier to see the null on the meter than listen for it on the phones.
Eric.

but I was possibly going to buy one. It's gone now, someone else bought it. Thanks for answering the questions. I was curious as to the meter especially. John

I was wondering where the Goldscan 4 fitted into the chain of devolopment, it was before the Beachscan wasn't it? What were the specifications for it? Pulse width etc. Any possible mods for it.
Thanks Merv.
