Older upgraded V3I vs. new V3I

My friend has an older V3 that was upgraded to the older V3I. While visiting a Whites distributor to try out the new Detech 13" coil he noticed that his older V3I was acting very irradic and noisy with the 13" coil and also his stock coil on it and this was outside. They tried both coils on a new V3I and it was considerably quieter. I mentioned to him that his had been upgraded from a V3 to a V3I and that this was a brand new V3I so the extra noise really did not surprise me possibly because of newer technology. I'll admit that the area wasn't totally perfect for running a metal dettector because of buildings etc. but the fact that the new V3I was consideralby quieter than the older one is the issue.

Any comments.................

There is no new technology, they are the same. The old unit may be in need of a check up.

Doing a Master Reset procedure on an upgraded V3 has caused owners to have to send the upgraded V3 into the factory. I don't know why. The original V3i takes the MR, if done correctly, and all that noise and chatter goes away.

I've followed this comparison between the full V3i and upgraded V3 since 2010. There is a difference.

OK Martin, what is the difference?

The only problem with a master reset on either unit is if the user accidentally hits the calibrate option.

When I was offered a Spectra, by Carl, for work I had done for Whites I could have had a Vision, the upgraded V3 I had at the time or a new V3i off the production line. The reason was there was no performance difference between any of them.

All the same - No difference
