oldest bounty hunter find yet

I bought a bounty hunter tracker 4 with the idea that I would use it to cherry pick some trashy parks. I also picked up a 4" coil. I found an 1865 penny next to the garage at my parents house. The house was built in 1900 and the garage is probably from the 1950s. Funny thing is the penny was 2" deep sitting on top of a pine tree root. I was very surprised.

This is the fun, at least for me, about metal detecting. You never know what you are going to find. My oldest American coin was found deep inside of Mexico and the oldest Mexican coin was found in the US. I once went to metal detect and there were lots of mosquitos biting me, so I decided to head back to my house, had a signal just getting there, first signal, got my only one to date man's gold ring. Today was the oppossite, I did not find anything to show off for 2 hours. Then when I was about to give up a had a signal and found a silver chain ( long and thick). Keep looking and you will be amazed. Nice looking Indian, the date is awesome. Regards to you.

I had a similar experience that happens to be my oldest coin find. It's an 1847 seated half dime. I found it at the base of a large tree with my BH Platinum years ago. Most likely, in both our instances, those trees didn't even exist at the time of loss.
The trees grew later, moving the coins as the tree grew. In your case, a root in the right location, brought it up with it. Pretty interesting stuff!

I now have a CTX 3030 also, and have found more 1800's coins with it. That oldest coin, remains a Bounty Hunter find.
