Olive oil tip needed for cleaning

The Coinstrike picked up a fairly nice '26 mercury dime today, but it is encrusted on both sides with a black tar-like substance. I'm avoid the tumbler and start out with just soaking it in olive oil. How long do I, can I let it soak?? Appreciate the advice, Ken
