Omega 8000 and Fisher F75

Neil

Well-known member
Hello all,

Ive got a Fisher F75(not the LTD) and was wondering if anyone has one or had one and also the Omega 8000. Id like to try the Omega, was wondering how they compare. Does the Omega have a backlight? How many batteries does it use and how long do they last, that type of stuff. I mostly beach hunt for jewelry so also how well does it work on smaller gold? Is the ID on it pretty accurate? Any type of comparison that would help me see the diffrences would be appreciated.
Also I cant see by the picture, is there a trigger of some sort on the Omega or is everything accessed through the face pad on the control housing?

Thank you,
Neil

i'll answer what I can
Does the Omega have a backlight?
No, I wish it did

How many batteries does it use and how long do they last,
1 9volt should be about 20 hours

how well does it work on smaller gold?
from what I've read it does reasonable.

Is the ID on it pretty accurate?
So far to me seems accurate

Also I cant see by the picture, is there a trigger of some sort on the Omega or is everything accessed through the face pad on the control housing?
There is a pinpoint button on the face plate

Never owned a F75 so can't help you there

thanks pulltab. so no backlight and no trigger. I like the no trigger part but would like a backlight.

now anyone have any comparisons on its ability to hit smaller gold?

I guess most use it for coins?

Neil how small do you want it tested for, i will try it on small gold, which coil would you like me to use, i have all three?

Hi Frank,
Mainly the 11" DD Im interested in, just like on the f75, thinking about getting one for dry sand hunting. any gold earring, charms, that type of thing, something small. Looks like a nice detector, any comments you can post about it or email me with would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Neil
