Omega 8000

pitcher

New member
Was hunting an old ball field where a old farm stood, from what Im told the old house burned down in the late 1800s, I was using the Concentric coil, GB 71 SENS 90, DISC 30, 3 tone.
Anyway I started getting these very weak very deep high tone hits the kind of hits where I have found most of my silver coins and wheats, the target was 8" down and ended being a chunk of burnt wood I think, maybe charcol just not sure.
With it out of the ground the VID# was 99, in the ground no VID#, I must have dug 10 of these targets, heres the intresting part, the friend I was hunting with had a Etrac and it would not read the burnt wood at all, in the ground or out, he even ran his machine wide open and nothing.
My Garrett Pro pointer sounded right off when I tryed it, so how do I DISC out and not miss the good deep targets? when I say deep Im talking 6", my Omega will not hit a coin any deeper even with the 11"DD coil, it hits a 7" in all metal but every target gives a iron number and not a great sound at all.

Thanks.

I can't help you on the burnt wood situation. I have dug some on occasion with various detectors, but always found a real target in the hole or dirt. I am a little surprised at your Omega's lack of depth. True, they aren't a depth demon, but the one I had would hit 7- 8" deep coins in disc mode running 0 disc and 99 sen and read the coin quite accurately. Anyway, good luck. HH jim tn

I agree with Jim, no problems with my Omega at 7 or 8 inches with a good read on it.
