Omega And G2

Well took delivery of a new Omega today. To me, same weight as the G2. Kinda reminds me of the F-70 in some ways, but very different. I put her together and went to my test bed for a spin. Well, the stock concentric coil works well, but I still have a preference for the ol' 11"DD. Still thou, it would not hit the .69 cal minne that I have planted at 10 inches with even the 11"DD coil in disc, it had a fairly good signal in all metal. The all metal signal is a little stronger on the Omega compaired to the G2 all metal signal. The real test will be out in the wilds of the relic fields, maybe a little later this week. Oh yea. fyi, the 10" Concentric Omega coil works on the G2, don't know if I'll ever use it, but heh, it works!!! MO

Did you ever test the F70 in your test garden. I have an F70 and I have .58 cal. minnie balls at 8-10-12-14 and the F70 surprises anyone who swings it over the bullets. The G2 is a little shy compared to the F70 for depth but it makes up in the seperation catagory. Keep us informed on the Omega's performance compared to the G2

Yep, I had the F-70, killer little machine and no, did'nt have my test bed then but one time I found a 3 ringer with the F-70 at 8 inches, BUT, when I nailed it I had at least 6" of air from the coil to the ground!!! Maybe I should of kept that one!!!!!

Heh Morelic55, Does the G2 hit that 69 cal. minie? I have been saying for a year now that the Omega DOES NOT respond well or get good depth on lead and brass...silver, yes it kicks butt, but not the lower conductors. Right now I am on the fence between the G2 and the T2 SE. I hate how EMI is a big problem with my Omega and don't want to experience the same problem with the T2. I am thinking the G2 is gonna be it, but I am very interested in hearing how the Omega compares to the G2 for relics and depth/ Keep us posted.
I will likely be out relic hunting this weekend and will be doing side by side testing on my Omega compared to my Vaquero.

The G2 will get the 10" Bullet...in All Metal AND ID it. Think twice about the T-2, if you think EMI is a pain with the Omega the T-2 is the same, the higher the gain, more noise...........MO

will it get it in Disc? If so what do you have the disc set at? Deepest I have ever dug with the Omega was a 58 cal minie at 9"...barely a signal and IDed at 99 both ways. I think that is the limit on the Omega

I'll include the Gamma in the mix, too, as I have been using it more lately as a friend wanted to use my Omega. My Gamma's can both run at 95 or better sensitivity when I am at sites where I have to cur the Omega back to about 70 to 75, give or take a little. When I am away from EMI around homes and urban settings, the Omega and Gamma both run at 99 w/o noise, but when there is some annoyance, the Gamma is a little quieter.

If you reflect back on the Field Test I did and posted of the prototype G2 on October 30/31, I mentioned that I used ALL of the coils on the G2. The 8" round and 9

Well, the site I worked it in is the same site that the G2 worked really well in. I used the Omega in disc set at 10, d2 mode, full sens, 11"DD coil ground reading was 51-53. It was very busy in the iron patches where the G2 excelled, but out away from the heavy iron it was very stable. The deepest target was the square of lead in the pic at 8 inches. Most of the 3 ringers were at the 6" level. The buttons were at 4-6 inches deep. I think the Omega will be a good choice for crusing sites and the G2 will remain my "surgical" machine for tough areas. DISCLAMER... I really like both machines, BUT, My Xterra 70 with the 10.5DD coils is still the "Depth King" in my ground untill I prove it different with the Teks. I don't don't even use the Xterra in iron infested sites anymore, the G2 has won out for that use......MO
