I went to a local park today to do some detecting with a hunting buddy. We ran into Jim TN as he was coming out of the woods and talked to him for few minutes. For the first part of the hunt we didn't find anything worth while, so we decided to go to another area of the park. Chris had his Omega with a 11 inch DD coil and I had my Omega with the 8 inch concentric coil attach. With that coil I was able to run the sensitivity wide open with the discrimination set at 40 without any chatter. If I remember correctly the ground balance was 64. The perfume bottle was around 3 inches deep and the ID number on it was a solid 82. The Mercury dime was about 3 inches deep as well and it ID at 82. The ring gave a solid 60 reading and I just knew it was a gold ring by the solid number and sound. It turned out to be costume. Oh Well. The 1913 Wheat penny gave a solid 80 reading was about 5 inches deep. Chris ended up finding a Wheat penny as well.
I really like the 8 inch concentric coil a lot better than the stock 10 inch elliptical concentric coil. Next time, I'm taking the 5 inch DD coil.
