Omega Gold and Silver

New member
Here's one thing i have found while just checking my detector after a bit of clean.
2 rings, 4 gm's, one gold one silver, about the same size.

80 Sens. 15 Disc.

Even though it was just an air test, it detected the Silver at 7" (high tone) and the Gold at 9" ( mid tone).
So i tried a silver ( 975 ) coin a bit larger than the rings ( high tone ) and that was 8" even though it was a bigger target.
Interesting !!
Does that mean this could be a great gold detector ?
More experiments needed i think !!!

Gold as in Gold nugget, yes it will do a fair job of detecting this.
Gold @ 4" deep in discrimination and 5" in all metal on a 6 grain nugget.

Chaddy,

The Omega does exceptionally well in ground on rings. Its ability to see coins on edge better than most other detectors seems to carry over on the low conductors in the nickel range which helps immensely on rings.

Yeh, even though it's not as universal as my M/L SE ( Land and Wet sand ). It's a lot lighter and easier to use.
I'm loving it the more i use it.
It is fast becoming my main detector.
Happy with the sock 10" coil at the moment ( 11" is expensive in the UK to get ).
Dave.
