Omega Ground Balance question .

Elton

New member
Correct me if I am wrong..

In the book it says fast grab for a good GB. Then it says if bars show in left bottom GB boxes. Manipulate with tactile switches to clear the bars. They will be in the lower and or upper area. if GB isn't set properly.

On mine , when I GB it clears all bars. The minute I move the coil..Bars show in one or the other windows.. They never stay clear as I think is the desirable GB setting.. ( Clear boxes)

Is my GB off if bars still show?? Am I doing something wrong?? If the bars show is the GB in fact off the desired setting ?? How have you cleared the bars, and kept them clear for proper GB ??

Is the bars showing going to affect the depth ?????????????? Do I have a problem version 6 machine ?? Sorry ..Lot's of questions..

Elton you're not doing anything wrong. Using your all metal pinpoint button find a clean target free area to GB. Once you GB start detecting. Forget about the bar thingy, it will worry you to death especially in trashy areas. It will go up and down every time you go over any type target. I just ignore it and GB every now and then as I see fit.

Thanks G ..appreciate the fast response from you...

Elton I do watch the bars, but they go up and down all the time, what you have to do is watch for then to ride high or low not bounce up and down. Or, to say a short hop up, back to zero, a little skip down and back to zero, Your looking for an average to middle. Also, like tabman was saying, don't get obsessed with watching it either, just from time to time glance at it and see if the bars are crossing the middle. The meter does respond to things in the ground, hence the constant up and down.

Hi Elton, I basically do what Tabman said.....once I have ground balanced, as far as the bars are concerned I take a live and let live approach, ie, do nothing...just check ground balance occasionally if the ground itself is known to vary in that particular area.

I have it now... Appreciate all the clarification. It will be a great help in operation...
