The manual states that the SIGNAL strength indicator is a real time depth meter, but doesn't give any clues as to the gauge of the depth in relation to the meter, all it states is:
When using the detector in the motion DISCRIMINATION mode, the relative
depth of an object is displayed in the center of the display with the SIGNAL
strength indicator. A more accurate depth reading is available in a nomotion
mode, using PINPOINT. These modes display target depth in
inches.
Is each bar on the meter an inch? I've noticed that the depth displayed while pinpointing is seems to be highly inaccurate, even on dimes and pennies
