I call it the sniper coil due to finding coins and other good targets by trash. I know it will go about 10" deep here in North Dakota, but it may vary in your area due to mineralization. I wouldn't get rid of my Joey Coil ever, that is how well it performs and it performs better than the 8" coil. The Platypus Coil would probably mask the targets more than anything else due to the size of the coil. I would stick with a smaller coil because depth isn't everything when there is trash involved. All you really need to do is decipher the signals from the targets and you will find what everyone else is missing. Hope this helps in your decision of a different coil and Good Luck.

I use it every where not going to get huge depth with it but you are not going to get hudge depth out of any coil in trash. Used the 5" at a trashy park last week and worked well enough to pull a few indian heads at 6 to 8".
