One heck of a spill!

Went back to a spot this morning that had only ever yielded a war nickel, silver Rosie and a silver ring in addition to some clad. About 30 minutes got a pretty good size hit that was reading in the dime range. It was a big target and once again I started to swing on by. After a couple of swings away I thought, "ah heck, lets see what it is." Dug down and flipped over the clod and saw coins in the clod and down in the hole. Got the pin pointer and went to work. The pin pointer was vibrating all around the hole. The first jewelry piece was the ring with the missing stone. Couldn't find the stone. As I continued to dig for coins, saw a section of the chain. Carefully worked that out of the ground and also got one of the nickels. To this point all the jewelry had the looks of junk. Wasn't finding anything else with the pin pointer or by sweeping the coil over the hole so filled in the hole. Had already decided, though, to work a good radius around the hole and dig everything that beeped. About a foot and a half away got another multi tone hit with readings from a nickel up into coin. Dug that hit and came upon the near disintegrated plastic bag. Went to work with the pin pointer again and recovered the lighter, bottle, cap and a piece that fits over the nozzle. The Cap reads Tommy Hilfinger. Got one more vibration with the pin pointer and dug the 925 silver ring. The only good piece of jewelry in the bunch. The chain and ring with missing stone are marked 14k g f and the band is showing 18k gf. Got a total of 35 coins out of that spill. I called it a wrap on that field as I wanted to briefly check out one other spot that I had only made a couple of token passes through some time back. One end of this spot had some characteristics about it that I thought might have some merit. After 2 clad dimes and 3 Memorial cents, I dug the 57d wheatie. After another cent, I got a nice hit and recovered the pretty nice 41 Mercury dime. I then called it a day. F75 LTD, 11dd coil, bp mode, sen 85, disc 4 and 3h tones, on the first field. Had a lot of trash on the second field and switched to de mode and upped disc to 7. If you are out there swinging, partake of lots of water. HH jim tn

Yep! Major spill indeed! Nice recovery...everytime I hit one I think about how many others may have passed on such a chopped up signal...sometimes they are very hard to unravel with so many beeps so close together, especially without a pinpointer...I betcha theres some old silver spills masked with nickles and pennys and Vishnu knows what all...:clapping:
Mud

Your right Mud, I know I had passed on it at least once myself as I had gridded that small plot no more then a month or so ago. It is easy to do as on this particular site as a whole, it is loaded with a lot of big metal pieces like rebar, copper pipe, faucets, door knobs, hinges, and so on. A big silver spill would be fun, wouldn't it? HH jim tn

Nice ,like to hit those surprises.

Good Job Jim.....

:clapping:Wow looks like a real fun time hunting jim....hh rick in mi.

Geeeeez Jim do you know how many of those big targets I have passed up???? I probably won't be able to sleep tonight. :goodnight: Thanks! I bet you put this post up just for me to read and than suffer. :surprised:
I have to admit that is a nice spill. Great detecting Jim.......Z

Ya, Zeek, I have passed up a good many myself. This one though did have something about it that triggered me to dig, but don't question me. You know, to be honest with you, when I had finished digging the spill you and mudpuppy for some reason did come to mind. Perhaps because you guys dig so many coins each outing and I was able to get 35 in one sweep. I did dig 19 coins this morning, but no silver with the 2 wheat cents I did get. HH jim tn

Wow, you seem to be on top of your game. NICE.
