One Month To Live....

Pete in MI

New member
Time to think what I have wanted to do, what I will do and give up on the Someday Syndrome....Someday I will have money to go places I have wanted to do, money to be able to do God's work, and so on.

Am I dying? We all are. But what do we do with each day God gives us? Are we using our time wisely? (No, I am not saying that being here or detecting is not a wise thing to do). Too many other 'distractions in life' and other 'wants' keep us from what we should be doing. What should we be doing? When Jesus was only 12 years old, He was going about His Fathers business. Our time on earth is limited. We do not know when we will be gone and our grave stones with have 3 things on them...the year we were born, the year we died and a dash in between. That short dash is our lives.

Yes, I have One Month To Live (a book by Kerry & Chris Shook) - Thirty Days To A No-Regrets Life. Do I have 30 days to live? Only God knows that. I am reading this book (as is many of our church members). It is my hope and desire to be 'different' at the end of this 30 day journey. I hope to be 'ridiculously different' in my faith.

What is 'ridiculous faith'? It is the faith from which David slew Goliath. Everyone saw Goliath from ground level and knew he was too big for them to conquer. David, through his acidulous faith, did not look at conquering Goliath from ground level but from the level of God, his God who IS BIGGER than ANY problem or situation. Sure David was 'radical' compared to the thinking of many around him...even those with great faith but it was his use of 'ridiculous faith' that made the difference.

So off I go onto a 30 day journey. I know God will be with me and I hope you discover this journey as well. God bless us - one and all.

Amen Brother! God knows I don't do all I possibly could (who of us does?) but I do what I can with what He has given me and I prayerfully hope my efforts make a difference in the lives of those around me. Your point, however, is well taken. Life is short and we know not when our journey will come to an end. Today is all we have and it behoves us therefore to make the most of it.

Thanks Pete, for your knowledgable post! Not one living soul knows when their last breath will be in these mortal bodies, so we need to be aware of what we do each day for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for only what is done for Him will last! We need to get ready and be ready to go Home! I fail, also, to do what He requires of me, daily, but I do know I love Him because He first loved me and gave His all on the Cross of Calvary by shedding His own pure and precious blood that I might be saved and all sinners, too, by our accepting Him as our own personal Savior and confessing our every sin and then living for Him as a faithful servant of our Lord! Humans fail, but God never does and when we worship Him in Spirit and in Truth we will not fail either by obedience and diligently studying His written Living Word and His Living Word is Jesus, His only begotten and beloved Son! I pray your 30-day journey elates you up above the world and helps you and Sherry to have a far better life in the Lord than you already do by His saving grace! Amen! Ma Betty

Our life is as a vapor according to Apostle Paul in the New Testament, we are here and suddenly we are gone. I think of death often and recently I perceived death to be no more than a " Jump into eternal Joy ". Best wishes and peace to all...
