Took a short drive into Pa. to hunt one of my favorite parks today and hunted hard for four hours or so. My morning was slow and I had only found a dozen clad coins in the first three hours. My old coin streak was in jeopardy as I was about ready to call it quits. The great thing about metal detecting is you are seconds away from changing your luck at all times. I have a pretty impressive streak going with either a wheat, silver coin, or some kind of nickle, so before quitting, I headed for the area where I found my oldest coin a couple of weeks ago. I took this small area(about 30x40 feet) and tried a different angle. This spot is loaded with modern trash and I was not having any luck. Finally, I got a weak low 70's signal and it pinpointed like a coin so I was hoping for something good. Ended up with an Indian head from 7 inches deep. I have not cleaned it yet, but maybe it will be my oldest coin. I called it quits shortly after and headed for home. The streak is still going and the Omega has my full confidence. I had a weird ground balance happening here today. When I initially ground balanced, it balanced out at 52 and that is where I hunted all morning. The detector was chirping more than usual and I re-balanced. Second time it was at 78 and it was shortly after that I found the Indian. This is not a big park, but I learned to watch your arrows and ground balance when in doubt. When balanced correctly, the Omega is very quiet. I can't get over how light and responsive this detector is! R.L.
